Knee Surgery And… A Beautiful Wife… WIth Ust Aziz

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

I met up with Ust Aziz after Teraweeh prayers and had a chat with him for a while. He was genuinely concerned about me and asked a lot of questions especially on the knee surgery.

You see this as a calamity. But this is the time to build up on your iman. You think this is the worse that can happen to you? There are others who went through even more. What happened to him (one of my friends in the mosque)? He broke his collarbone, ankle and many other bones. So, in comparison with your injury, in my opinion, his is worse.

Anything regarding the dunya, always look down; always look at the people who are not so well-off as you. In Singapore, it’s not really obvious, but in Indonesia, you can see poverty. People who don’t have money for the next meal. People who are always in dirty and tattered clothes, but they are always happy. You see the rich and famous with obscene wealth, they have problems; they will worry if they lose money. For us, for the poor, they are still happy no matter what the circumstances.

We are fortunate to have air-con, tv, computer, camera and all that. Those guys do not have what we have. We must thank Allah for the luxuries that he has blessed upon us.

With regards to ibadah, you must always look up. If you look down, then what kind of person are you? You’ve got to look up to the higher people, Ustazs, Hafizul Quran and Sheykhs. You must try to emulate their ibadah. Maybe you see this Sheykh who has memorised a particular surah, you must have that feeling of wanting to do what he did, that is memorise and perfect the surah just like him… or even better.

So, the lesson here is, dunya, look down… ibadah, look up.

*Rubs my knee* Ya Sufyan, InsyaAllah your knee will be back to normal, like before.

And InsyaAllah, you will find a pretty wife who will pay her utmost attention to you and take care of you.

One of the reasons I do not want Ramadan to end is because of them. I do not want them to go back to Makkah. I want them to stay here forever and ever and teach me.
